USB Drives

Do you mean a USB stick? USB stands for Universal Serial Bus. Yes, it is used to save and store your files, just as you would do on a floppy disk. Make sure you obtain this USB drive, because it is so much reliable more than the other media where you save your work. It's compatible with nearly every computer you use, and it saves gigabytes of work (which means lots and lots of space).
On the computer, you will find a small rectangular port to plug the USB stick in. You'll either find it at the front of your CPU case (nearby the CD and floppy slots) or at the back of your computer (where the wires all go in). You just need to look carefully for a small rectangular port.
Very reliable, so invest in it. I can't do without it.
Open "My Computer" and it should show the usb drive then just drag the files into it. Also open "My Computer" then open the usb drive and drag the files from ur usb drive to any folder u want. I dont reckon u really need a website to learn about them its pretty simple to use but here.

You would have to write a resident program (one that starts on bootup and then runs quietly in the background all the time) that would continually scan for that drive, and take note when it went missing.
Something like Visual Basic has a lower learning curve than a lot of other languages; you might start there.
