Even with high bandwith ability you might get stuttering, voice loss and picture loss. In that case "the flow" of the meeting may be lost especially if you are doing the selling or convincing.
If you organized and proposed video conference and the technology lets you down, your business partner may lose confidence in you.
It may not be logical and connected to what you offer (maybe you build chairs or sell rugs) but people make many decisions based on emotions and not logic.
I added a resource which lists some of the disadvantages of web conferencing which may be similar to your case.
First of all the quality of the voice and image is dependent on so many different factors that it might not be the software that's making the issue, but could even be the sound cards they have, the graphic card, the internet connection… etc etc..
That being said, there is a excellent free video conferencing software here

and several more on Source Forge, which is all freeware and much of it is as excellent as the stuff you buy, if not better.
When in doubt, and in need of software.. always try sourceforge.net
Video conferencing is steadily (and honestly slowly) evolving year over year in enterprises. Add on top of that the individuals employing Skype video and you’ve got a service that is being used. I haven’t watched it reported as much as some other services, thus I can’t find a hoopla about the service. It is right that video conferencing companies are advertising their service, touting it as the freshest thing since sliced bread, but that’s what companies do – proclaim their services. I wouldn’t take it as hype though.
I know what bandwidth is now, but is there any way to judge how much I need?
